Off-Stage Amusement |
1585 Johnston Street (Granville Island) Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9 Canada +1 604 687 1354 http://www.artsclub.com/onstag... |
This lounge is a popular place for a creative crowd. Nightly shows make the watering hole a prime locale to enjoy live musical and comedy acts. The menu is predominantly West Coast-style cuisine: spicy chicken wings or large platters of nachos with dip are popular orders at less than CAD10. With the large variety of liquor lining the bar's back wall, it is obvious that drinks are this institution's specialty. Locally brewed ales are constantly in demand and worth a taste. See website for complete menu and monthly entertainment calendar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Two venues, one great experience |
1585 Johnston St (Granville Island Theatre) Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9 Canada +1 604 687 5315 http://www.artsclub.com/ |
This theatrical institution has two locations to choose from: One is a 450-seat venue converted from an industrial warehouse on Granville Island, and the other is the Stanley Theatre, a restored 1920s movie house on South Granville. Both showcase top-rated local musicals, comedies and new and classical drama. The Granville Island location also features the Backstage Lounge, a bar to hang out in after the show, or just to go and listen to live music. It's a favourite local destination. Improvised live theatre |
1601 Johnston St (New Revue Stage) Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9 Canada +1 604 687 1644 http://www.vtsl.com/ |
This is off-the-wall, improvised live theatre. A talented bunch of actors throws scripts and rehearsals out the window and takes audience suggestions and other inspirations as their cues, resulting in fast-paced sketch comedy. Teams compete for the most points and a referee and audience judges score each scene. The troupe in Vancouver pioneered this funny form of performance and many comedians and actors got their start with the league. At Theatre Sports you can always expect loads of raucous entertainment. Things like Improv Extreme, the Imprentice, and Classic TheatreSports are just the tip of the iceberg, guaranteeing you a Titanic boat load of belly laugh entertainment, so you can literally laugh yourself sick. Admission (Wed-Thu): CAD14.50 adults; CAD11.00 students; CAD9.50 for 9:15pm show; Admission (Fri & Sat): CAD16.50 adults; CAD13.00 students. See website for showtimes. Review © 2007, Wcities |
