Theatre in historic firehall
280 East Cordova St
Vancouver, BC V6A 1L3

This heritage theatre is situated in a 1905 fire hall downtown, and consistently features fabulous dance and theatre performances. It underwent an outer restoration last year and is lovingly maintained. Festivals of both theatre and dance are held here annually. Its lounge has a happy hour every Friday; mingle with actors and other theatre-types if the desire strikes you. The back courtyard is a lovely place to go with beer in hand and listen to the world go by.

This theatre was built in 1927 and restored in 1976 to its former glory. Originally opened as a vaudeville house, it is now a beautiful, much-loved city landmark. Located in the entertainment district downtown, it has plush velvet seats and carpets with graceful brass accents throughout. It is the perfect venue for a glamorous night out on the town. It shows a variety of concerts, musicals and ceremonies and is home to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

This grand venue was built by the city in 1959; today it is home to the Vancouver Opera and provincial ballet. It is large, seating almost 3,000 and featuring a 70-foot wide stage. Performances include opera, ballet, musicals, plays, concerts, telethons and ceremonies. Patrons complement the grand atmosphere with more formal dress, so remember to don your dapper best. An art gallery and restaurant are also on site.

This is one of the city's most popular nightclubs and concert venues. Downtown's "Dick's on Dicks" entertains with live music and state-of-the-art sounds. The "Funkshon" dance party happens every Tuesday night when resident DJs Rhombus, Ben Jammin, and Yann Solo spin beats with stunning sound. Thursdays offer live musical entertainment from local and international artists. The DJs on "Plush Fridays" play urban tracks, while "Epic Saturdays" let you dance to new music and old favourites. The club has a strongly enforced dress code, so leave the jeans at home.

Located beside the grand old Queen Elizabeth Theatre, this is its quieter, more demure partner. Built in 1962 by the city, the medium-sized downtown facility features music recitals, chamber music concerts, contemporary dance, plays and business events. It seats 668 people and though less formal and elegant than the Queen Elizabeth, it is still a comfortable and attractive venue. Be sure to check the listings to see what's showing.
