It's incredible that such delicate figures can be sculpted from such hard materials. The jade and semi-precious stone creations of master sculptor Lyle Sopel are well worth seeing. His work is world-renowned and has been commissioned by internationally recognized figures. Most of his pieces are expertly and intricately sculpted wildlife figures. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Diverse, modern gallery |
220 West Esplanade St Vancouver, BC V7M 3H7 Canada +1 604 984 1286 |
Walking along North Vancouver's Esplanade, it is difficult to miss this gallery front. It initially appears to be a gift shop or simple gallery, but it is actually a little of both. The gallery/boutique features an eclectic sampling of local talent, making a point of supporting local art projects. If you love quilts, fine jewelry, cast iron creations, diverse woodwork or revealing canvases, then you are in luck. Prices range from reasonable for smaller pieces to expensive for higher-end ones. Live music and pool |
135 Pemberton Ave Vancouver, BC V7P 2R3 Canada +1 604 984 3558 |
As the name indicates, this North Vancouver spot's design and décor resemble an old train station. The inviting interior is enhanced by the ceiling's wooden cross beams and lots of comfortable seating. The food is reasonably priced: appetizers such as a healthy serving of potato skins are tasty, and entrees such as burgers and shepherd's pie are worth a bite. The beers are reasonably priced & Boddington's is a favorite. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Gallery of photography, media arts |
333 Chesterfield Ave Vancouver, BC V7M 3G9 Canada +1 604 986 1351 http://www.presentationhousega... |
This is North Vancouver's multi-functional art centre. Part theatre, gallery and museum, it focuses on contemporary art in many forms. The gallery portion houses one of the largest photographic and artistic media collections in the west. Both national and international artists display their work here, but the focus is on Canadian talent. In addition to the gallery, the North Vancouver Museum and Archives holds the key to the North Shore's photographic history. The Presentation House Theatre plays host to a variety of dramatic performances year round. Admission to gallery is free. Review © 2007, Wcities |
