Drop the downtown theatre plans and make the short trip out to the University of British Columbia campus for a musical experience you won't soon forget. This performance centre was built in 1997 and has already been lauded by patrons and critics for its spectacular acoustic and architectural design. Recitals, concerts and symphony orchestra performances make up this venue's roster. The uncommon interior design only adds to this internationally acclaimed experience. Hosted by the University of British Columbia's music department, this concert series offers an eclectic sampling of classical music. Featuring esteemed faculty and guest musicians, the concerts have varied from piano recitals paying tribute to Schubert, Schumann and Chopin, to an event entitled 'Fantastic Music for Winds', with flutes, oboes and clarinets. This is 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-art physical and interactive games in Metrotown Centre. It has five theme zones: Sport, Speed, Contact, Extreme, and Target. For the younger crowd, there is the Junior Players Lounge, where players under six can interact with Pico learning systems. After the games, you can refuel at the Playdium City Diner or the Playdium City Express. You buy credits to play.

Shadbolt Centre for the Arts

This center is named in honor of renowned artist Jack Shadbolt and his wife, writer Doris. It opened in November 1995 as a performance and teaching center for the visual arts, theater and dance. In order to better accommodate the more than 8,000 arts enthusiasts who take part in its programs, classes and workshops, it added multi-use studios and a second theater. Designed by internationally renowned Hotson Bakker Architects, its design and layout, with large, windowed studios, an atrium and raised terrace, complements its natural surroundings.

Carved by well-known Northwest Coast artists, the Sty-Wet-Tan is a grand decorative hall of 3,600 square foot, perfect for receptions, performances, workshops, conferences, seminars, feasts and banquets. It can hold up to 400 people in a stand-up reception, and the rentals start at CAD900 for four hours. Its award-winning architecture features four houseposts and two supporting roof beams, a spring dance floor, a stage area, adjoining a fully equipped kitchen. The parking area located beside the building provides easy access to the hall.

The Clagary Rugby Union has tussled on this stadiums' grounds. Radiohead has also given a thundering performance here. The Thunderbird Stadium, a 3,200 seater is one of Vancouver's prime entertainment venues. Be it sports events or musical performances - this place has hosted it all. One of the venue's unforgettable moments in history is during a Rugby Churchill Cup Final. Three guys ran across the field absolutely nude!
