In an over-priced and over-caffeinated city, it is no surprise that chain coffee stores like Starbucks have proliferated. They serve a growing need of equipping yuppies, yummy mummies and faux struggling artists/poets/intellectuals with their must-have accessory – a trendy coffee receptacle complete with designer java jacket to match. Resist the urge to follow the crowds; head instead to JJBean. Probably the most happening place on 'the Drive' for coffee, it remains down to earth, thanks to the perpetual rotation of dreadlocked artists, writers and cyclists who frequent the place. In summer the garage-door walls retract for the ultimate 'Drive' experience.
