Chic spot |
900 West Georgia Street Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Vancouver, BC V6C 2W6 Canada +1 604 684 3131 http://www.fairmont.com |
One of Vancouver's most chic rooms is found in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. After a multimillion-dollar renovation, this elegant spot was reconstructed into a lounge and wine bar. The interior has glowing chandeliers and plush chairs, and the feel is one of a luxury ocean liner's dining room. The clientele is well-heeled and refined. The menu features signature dishes as well as West Coast and Asian fare. Examples include grilled veal medallions and prawns, and halibut marinated in miso and sake. There is a large selection of wines by the glass. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Ramen Heaven |
788 Denman Street Vancouver, BC V6G 2L5 Canada +1 604 682 7568 |
Kintaro offers only ramen and they are pretty good at it too. The place has minimalist decor and most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. The chef is always on the go and serves broth and noodles; you can select from light to rich and from lean or fat pork. The ramen here is mostly pork bone based and only on Saturdays you have a choice of Forest Fire combo with seafood. And wash it all down with the Japanese beer they offer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Steakhouse and seafood |
1042 Alberni Street Vancouver, BC V6E 1A3 Canada +1 604 684 2451 http://www.koberestaurant.com |
This popular restaurant claims to be Canada's first Japanese steak house, and is located just one block north of Robson Street. The wisecracking chefs perform their handiwork at the tables and the Tokyo-inspired atmosphere is always lively; Kobe aims at entertainment as much as fine cuisine. For dinner, the steak and chicken dishes are sure to please palates, and the shrimp plates come in a variety of sauces. For something different, try the White Porcelain Buddha drink. Asian and Mediterranean fusion |
567 Hornby Street Le Soleil Hotel Vancouver, BC V6C 2E8 Canada +1 604 689 8862 http://www.lesoleilhotel.com |
The name is the combination of the words Oriental and Italian, and the cooking itself is a mixture of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. This upscale, two-level restaurant downtown features dark-wood accents, metal castings, and ceiling medallions. It also has a three-dimensional mural that stretches to the staircase leading to the balcony. Try the Brined Pork Tenderloin Spring Rolls with a passion fruit sweet soy glaze to start, or the seared Black and White Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna with wasabi cream and jasmine rice.
