Located at ground level along the bustling Granville Street corridor, this spot offers an easy escape from the city hustle. The interior is bright and well lit with track lighting. Large round tables in the dining hall are offset by an abundance of leafy plants. The Vegetable Stir-fry of Sweet Rice with Onions, Peppers and Spices is a favorite. Located in the oldest part of downtown, this popular spot offers a blend of Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine. That blend has earned this restaurant top honour with local critics and even the esteemed chef Julia Child. Some recommended dishes include carpaccio-thin beef with fish sauce and hot-and-sour soup. The dessert menu is also a standout. Images of ancient Cambodian life fill the walls. Dishes run from CAD4 up to a little over CAD10 for main courses. Bistro ambience |
8166 Main St Vancouver, BC V5X 3L6 Canada +1 604 323 8093 |
Two things separate this South Vancouver restaurant from other Chinese eateries of its calibre: it serves portions big enough to satisfy western appetites, and it has the ambience of an intimate bistro. The power-lunching business crowd seems to like it here. The dining room is small but elegant, with mirrored walls, glass-topped tables and white tablecloths. The requisite Chinese decorations and piped-in music are here, too. A typical feast might include barbecued duck, spring rolls and hot-and-sour soup for starters; and ginger prawns, crispy chicken, sautéed beef and broccoli, and steamed vegetables for the main course. One of Chinatown's culinary institutions |
1339 Robson Street Vancouver, BC V6E 1C6 Canada +1 604 685 0871 http://www.shinnova.com/hons_o... |
Although it has traded its original location for a more modern site, people still come to Chinatown and line up for this restaurant's lunch menu. The Keefer Street site remains the favourite. Noodles are the house specialty. Whether you top them with chicken, dumplings, shrimp or oyster sauce, it is the noodles that keep the front door swinging. If you want to try something on the menu other than noodles, order the Crispy Wonton. There is also a selection of vegetarian dishes. Other location at 1339 Robson Street. Review © 2007, Wcities |
