Established in 1980, this Robson Street cafe gained notoriety for its Northern Italian cuisine and traditional feel. It underwent a face-lift several years ago. Retaining its original charm, it remains one of the city's most popular social spots. The room, lined with greenery and detailed wall art, exudes warmth and elegance. Many young area residents frequent it. The Florentine menu lists carefully crafted dishes. Entrees such as the roasted duck flavoured with grappa in a sundried cherry glaze, and Ossobuco d'Agnello sprinkled with cinnamon are favourites. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This popular Italian restaurant is a favourite among both locals and tourists, and you may even spot a visiting celebrity or two trying out one of the joints famous pizzas. Located above Robson Street, the chic establishment has an open kitchen with a wood burning oven and grill as the centerpiece. Start out with a sampling of appetizers: a platter of smoked trout, Gaeta olives, prosciutto, grilled baby octopus and eggplant caviar (CAD17.50 per person). Critics consider the fresh pasta here to die for, but anything that comes out of the oven (think pizza) or of the grill (rare ahi, veal, ostrich) will be the highlight reel of any dining experience. Worth checking out in Kitsilano |
3617 West Broadway Vancouver, BC V6R 2B8 Canada +1 604 738 1113 |
"This Greek eatery that opened is yet another restaurant in Kitsilano that is well worth checking out. It is the one with the can't-miss-it red signboard with gold type above the terrace. A vintage floor-model radio serves as the reception desk. Inside, candlelight romantically brightens the dark-wood-veneered dining room. Chandeliers add style to the place, while a sit-down bar keeps it easygoing. House specialties include lamb (Paithakia Riganata), seafood (Salmon Riganato Skaras) and pizza (pesto and zucchini with artichokes and pine nuts). For dessert, there is the Bougatsa: Lemon custard in phyllo pastry." Review © 2007, Wcities |

Asian and Mediterranean fusion |
567 Hornby Street Le Soleil Hotel Vancouver, BC V6C 2E8 Canada +1 604 689 8862 http://www.lesoleilhotel.com |
The name is the combination of the words Oriental and Italian, and the cooking itself is a mixture of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. This upscale, two-level restaurant downtown features dark-wood accents, metal castings, and ceiling medallions. It also has a three-dimensional mural that stretches to the staircase leading to the balcony. Try the Brined Pork Tenderloin Spring Rolls with a passion fruit sweet soy glaze to start, or the seared Black and White Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna with wasabi cream and jasmine rice.
