A fusion of international flavors |
1215 Bidwell Street Vancouver, BC V6G 2K7 Canada +1 604 689 8822 http://www.balthazarvancouver.... |
This massive downtown restaurant is the perfect place to don black and sport the mod doo. Everything about the place oozes cool, with earthy tones and enough sex appeal to bring out the hip crowd. Although being seen is a big draw, the menu backs up the atmosphere with an eclectic offering of appetizers, wood fired pizzas and upscale a main menu that includes creative spins of seafood and steaks. The 'Bordello Room' bar area has expands the chill out ambiance with an intimate space warmed by a fireplace, shrouded in soft red lighting and dotted with comfy chairs and sofas. It serves what so many other city restaurants have gone gaga over - fusion tapas. There are a wide variety of choices, from Asian-inspired seafood picks to vegetarian creations. El Demented Mexican Food |

You might be wary of a restaurant and bar whose motto is "piece of crap", but fear not. The twisted humor does not interfere with the delightful Mexican dishes served by enthusiastic staff. Whet your appetite on Madman's Perogies with fried bacon and onions before settling into the mouth-watering Ranchero Steak Fajitas. The liquor pleases as well: choose from an array of martinis, shots, beers and the like. No doubt the best house that crap built. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great salsa and margaritas |
1999 West 4th Avenue Vancouver, BC V6J 1M7 Canada +1 604 734 7117 http://www.lasmargaritas.com/ |
This restaurant makes some of the best salsa and margaritas in town, its tequila selection is the largest in British Columbia, and its 60-seat patio is consistently voted one of the city's best. Those are just some of the reasons many diners flock here. It looks like a Mexican cantina: red-tiled floors, white-stuccoed archways and sombreros hanging from the ceiling. And the best part about this place is that all dishes are all prepared fresh daily. Appetizers include ceviche at CAD4.75, while house specialties include a Grilled Salmon Burrito (CAD12.95). No MSG, preservatives, food colouring or additives are added. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Commerical Presents Cantina Chic |
2095 Commercial Drive Vancouver, BC V5N Canada +1 604 696 9997 http://www.meandjulio.ca |
The "Drive," reputed center for alternative living, where struggling beatnik poets meet Rastafarians in Indonesian eateries and middle-class hippies casually converse with whomever exudes the 'right energy.' So does an upscale Mexican joint have a chance in this 'hood? Answer: an emphatic yes. Ambiance, food, presentation and service all rate highly; the ribs left little to be desired, save a shared dessert. The serving area is itself a thing of beauty: richly decorated cuisine emerges from the kitchen while illuminated liquor bottles tower over the voluptuous curve of the bar.
