Chao Phraya Thai Restaurant

Traditional Thai
1505 West 2nd Avenue
Vancouver, BC V6H 3Y4
Canada
+1 604 732 3939
This restaurant boasts the most traditional Thai cuisine in town. It uses fresh, natural ingredients and chili sauce. It has a romantic vibe, with views of False Creek boats and harbour. Although it is just outside Granville Island, parking won't be a problem because the restaurant has its own free lot. Dishes come in mild to very spicy versions, so there is no need to fear too-hot or flavourless food. Some of the highlights include the Meat and Vegetarian Green Curry, Pad Thai, sweet and sour dishes, stir-fried fare, lettuce wraps, salads and soups.

Chili Club Thai

Thai cuisine with a view
1000 Beach Ave
Vancouver, BC V6E 1T7
Canada

The elegant decor here doesn't distract from the views of English Bay that spread out before the diners. The Thai chefs use fresh ingredients and consistently serve up tasty and traditional Thai treats. The menu selection includes a wide range of seafood, meat, noodle and rice dishes. It also offers an assortment of Thai curries with chicken, beef or pork (CAD9.50), and a seafood curry served in a hot pot (CAD9.50). For a lighter meal, there is a wide range of spicy soups as well.

Hawker's Delight

Non-Pretentious Ambitions Achieved
4127 Main Street
Vancouver, British Columbia V5V
Canada
+1 604 709 8188
Serving the increasingly trendy mid-Main area, this Singaporean/Malaysian hole-in-the-wall tempts customers with nearly-overloaded laksas, curries, satays, and nasi or mee goring, serving it up in plastic plates and bowls to evoke Asian street stall sentiments. On a cold, grey day, the fogged up windows serve as their own advertising, showcasing the cuisine within, the smells seducing even the most disgruntled urbanites inside – a reminder that somewhere, somehow, though it seems near-on impossible, the sun really is shining and palm trees are swaying in the breeze. A culinary pick-me-up for the urban winter blues. - Joshua Hergesheimer
