This mom and pop business, which is often hopping, evokes a warm, homey feeling. The small, one-room establishment sells an assortment of bagels and Jewish baked goods like knishes, kugel, matzoh balls and challah. People are said to travel long distances for one of the bagelry's sweet and doughy cinnamon buns. The staff is friendly and outgoing, contributing to the lively atmosphere. Find fresh vegetarian (try the excellent Borscht) and meat-based fresh soups, teas, coffees and treats of many kinds. There is another location in Kitsilano, at 2873 West Broadway (+1 604 738 2121).
