Picnic destination |
South of Highway 1/99, on the mouth of Burrard Inlet Caulfield Drive Vancouver, BC Canada +1 604 925 7275 |
This park is considered one of the most ideal places to hold hands and have a picnic. Built in 1912, Point Atkinson Lighthouse is a wilderness area close to the West Vancouver city centre. Easily accessible by car and public transit, it is a favourite day hiking spot. The park trails take you through huge Douglas firs, rocky cliffs and a granite shoreline. Be on the lookout for the bald eagles that nest in the Douglas firs. Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself is a working one and is closed to the public. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Visiting this city requires that you spend at least one day experiencing the nearby natural sights. Naturalist and former chef Manfred Scholermann and his staff give a walking tour like no other. Take your pick of Lighthouse Park, Bowen Island, Capilano, or even downtown itself. The guides' knowledge of the environs and of the natural environment complement these walks, so you can learn while you sightsee. Make sure you have comfortable shoes, a hat, and some shades. Pickups are available at most major downtown hotels. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Downtown source for tourists |

Everything visitors need to know about the city is on hand at this tourist centre. Multilingual representatives provide accommodation bookings, car rentals, maps, brochures and everything else needed to enjoy the city. Located in the Waterfront Centre (the Station) and managed by the Downtown Vancouver Improvements Association, this is the resource to seek out when you are new in town. Along with the information centre, the group has set up kiosks throughout the downtown area. The attendants work only in the downtown area and can be identified by their casual navy uniforms.
