Large, Historic Hotel |
San Marco 1459 Venice, Venice 30124 Italy +39 41 520 7022 http://www.bauervenezia.com/ |
For over a century this hotel has been synonymous with Venetian hospitality and has recently been restored. It was one of Venice's first grand hotels and now it is among the best equipped and most modernized. Near San Marco, its main entrance is on the Campo San Moisè. The hotel's façade can be seen from the Grand Canal. The interior has been entirely refurbished, decorated in Venetian style, it has some beautiful pieces of original antique furniture. The level of service is very high and it has disabled access, something that is rare in Venice. On the top floor, there is a terrace with bar from which one can enjoy a splendid view of the rooftops and the lagoon. For guests of the Bauer in Venice, there is also the possibility of using various services of their sister hotel in the Lido. There is the option of the swimming pool and the beach, as well as playing golf, tennis and horseback riding. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The former French Embassy |
Madonna dell'Orto, 3500 Venice 30121 Italy +39 41 220 8111 http://www.boscolohotels.com/ |
An old convent, this building was also home to the French and Savoy region Embassies. It is now a very exclusive hotel, located between the station and the Rialto Bridge. Furnished in luxurious Venetian style, the rooms are fully equipped and some look out onto a beautiful garden. There is also an excellent restaurant on site that serves typical regional food. Conference facilities in the hotel cater to the business traveller; several lounges may function as meeting rooms for groups of up to ten. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beach Hotel |
Lungomare Marconi, 17 Venice 30126 Italy +39 41 526 5921 |
Constructed at the beginning of the 1900s, this was the first hotel to be built on the Lido di Venezia. Directly overlooking the beach, the Hotel Des Bains has preserved the charm that was immortalized in Luchino Visconti's film, Death in Venice. Still furnished in the original Belle Epoque style, it is surrounded by greenery and a private beach. It also offers a heated pool, a children's pool, two tennis courts and a golf course. On the Lido promenade, this large hotel is characterized by an elegance of olden times. Completely redecorated, the colorful furnishings are reminiscent of the Byzantine style of the Mediterranean. It has three restaurants - the Tropicana, La Taverna and La Terrazza - that offer regional and Mediterranean cuisine. Among the many services offered are a heated pool, a shuttle service to the historic center of Venice, a private beach and a running track. It is right next to the Cinema Exhibition.
