Doll-Wiese

Ski slopes for beginners and children
Waldweg
Vienna 2392
Austria
+43 1 812 12 01
A short drive or bus ride will bring you to the beautiful Wienerwald, and a 120m ski lift will provide the ingredients for the perfect winter outing. Specifically designed for novices and children, it is also located directly next to the Gasthof Lindwurm. So, there's no need to worry about getting cold, tired or hungry - especially if you bring your little ones along.

Skiing in the Wienerwald
Mauerbachstraße 172-174
Vienna 1140
Austria
+43 1 979 10 57
Skiing in the city of Vienna is more beautiful than you would think: Picturesque Mauerbach is located in the outskirts of Vienna on the slopes of the Wienerwald and is waiting for skiers just like you! With a 400m skilift why go anywhere else? You will need to go when there are snow conditions because they do not produce artificial snow, however, that isn't generally a problem for Vienna in the winter.

Inline Skating Donauinsel

Many kilometres of skating fun
Donauinsel
Vienna 1220
Austria
This island is 20km long and as there are no cars allowed it is a perfect area for roller-skating. It is even possible to skate in winter if there is no snow. During the summer months it is pretty crowded with families and children. The best region is from the north-west end of the island to the Praterbrücke. First, you skate to the top of the island and, passing the Reichsbrücke, change your path down to the beach of the Neue Donau. Near the Reichsbrücke there are some steps for doing stunts. There is also a meeting-point for skateboarders.

Inline Skating Outdoors

Street spots and fun parks
Various venues
Vienna, Vienna
Austria
Downtown Vienna, the skaters meet at two street locations: in the Resselpark, in front of the Karlskirche, station Karlsplatz (U1, U2 U4), and in front of the Ministry of traffic (Radetzkystrasse 2), station Schwedenplatz (U1, U4). Fun parks are in the Prater Hauptallee, corner Rustenschacher Allee, access via station Praterstern (U1) and then on the quite shaky ground the Hauptallee direction East. Unfortunately there isn't a halfpipe there. Another one is in the Auer Welsbach Park, station Schönbrunn (U4) or station Anschützgassse (52, 58), where a halfpipe can be found.

Jogging in the Prater

Jogging along the Prater
Prater
Vienna, Vienna 1020
Austria
The Hauptallee, situated between Praterstern and the Lusthaus, is the ideal place for a jog. It is also part of the Vienna Marathon course which takes place every May. If you prefer running through the countryside, you only have to turn off the main road and run along one of the small paths which wind their way through the forest. The ancient trees, rivers and meadows are the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of city life.

When it's cold outside, why not come to an indoor swimming pool? This facility also offers a sauna, whirlpool and eucalyptus bath. Massage and quiet rooms are also available to help relieve your stress and revive yourself from a hectic work schedule. But, don't think this is just for adults; children are very much welcome and catered to at this facility. Birthday parties can also be arranged. The hours are very generous, and the prices aren't bad either. Call for specifics as there are many variables based on time blocks and activities. A child's day card for swimming is EUR12 and an adult's day card is EUR20.

Since the squash fad in Vienna has calmed down a bit, there is nearly always a free court in the Manhattan. It is very clean and well maintained, especially the changing rooms, where you can find complimentary body milk and perfume. There is a relaxing sauna for afterwards included in the price! Manhattan also runs a shop, in which customers can buy or rent sports equipment.
