Shakespeare & Company is the insider's tip for English book enthusiasts in Vienna. Situated in the old part of town, the small shop has something of a romantic touch, far exceeding that of the big, modern bookshop chains. Bookshelves reach the ceiling of the two rooms and the narrow hall which connects both. Around 20,000 books are in stock and it is by no means easy to find that rare piece, that is surely there but hidden in the mass of shelves.
