A bustling airport |
Wien Flughafen Schwechat Vienna, Vienna 1300 Austria +43 1 7 0070 http://www.flughafen-wien.at |
Situated 19km south-east of the city centre and extremely close to the Hungarian, Slovakian and Czech borders, Vienna Airport is western Europe's most easterly airport. The airport has a wide catchment area and is particularly popular with those visiting central Europe, with cities like Prague, Budapest, Bratislava, Ljubljana, Munich and Zagreb just a couple of hours' drive away. The airport contains three short-stay car parks (K1, K2, K3) and four multi-storey car parks (1,3,4,C) for longer stays. Those who prefer the comfort of a taxi should head for the taxi rank outside the arrival hall. Drivers can get out of the city quickly on the A4 motorway. An express bus to Budapest runs six times a day. Numerous cafés and restaurants provide a choice of food ranging from schnitzels (Café Johann Strauss) to sandwiches (Take Off). Transit passengers can admire the panoramic views from the International Marketplace restaurant or kill time in The Dubliner Irish pub which hosts live bands and features an awesome selection of whisky.
