The white walls of the market hall in the basement of the Stock Exchange building are in sharp contrast with the abundance of plants and flowers of all sizes and colors. You can find everything, from palm trees and cut flowers of the season to water-lilies, all nicely arranged. Since there is a lot of space you can also buy original vases and flower pots and all kinds of garden equipment such as wellies and shovels. In the adjacent restaurant "Hansen" you can enjoy a cup of Viennese coffee or a nice lunch, while resting your eyes on the beautiful surroundings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

One of the most popular ceramics in this country are produced in Gmunden, a town in Upper Austria. The selection includes plates, cups and lots of accessories with motives inspired by the Baroque or even by the national costume, the dirndl. The most famous decor is the green moiré one on a white background, this one you can find in numerous Austrian households and restaurants. All pieces are handpainted, nevertheless you can put them in a dish-washer without having to worry. The shop is well prepared for international customers, goods are shipped in the whole world. When leaving the place, have a look at the right, where you will find the Loos-Bar, built in 1908 in pure Art Nouveau style. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Main Street of Bargains |
Meidlinger Haupstrasse (at Pohlgasse) Vienna Austria |
Hauptstrasse's – literally 'main streets' – can be found in almost every district of Vienna. Most are lined with trendy clothing and accessory shops, bookstores, cheap eats, and shoe stores. While Meidlinger Hauptstrasse is a far cry from the glitz and glam of downtown Vienna, if you're really looking for some good deals it's worth a walk down this street filled with discount stores and off-label goods. Not to worry, the regular fashion chains and a Starbucks await if you don't find your amazing deal of the day. - Christine Keene Review © 2007, Wcities |

Knick-knack store |
Gumpendorferstrasse 10-12 Vienna, Vienna 1060 Austria +43 (0)1 581 0489 http://www.phil.info/ |
If you like shopping at flea-markets, you will develop a soft corner for this little cubby-hole of a store-cum-café. Crammed with books, CDs and tons of other stuff, it gives off the air of a garage sale. Want to spruce up your home? Browse through some of the furniture on display. A bar and in-house restaurant only add to the mélange. Nevertheless, the place is well-kept and organized, with charming classroom-like coffee tables and chairs, where one can sip a cuppa while eyeing the goodies on offer. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Like all around the globe, Virgin has one of the best choice of CDs in the world. The chain calls the place a megastore and there's something in what they say! On the ground floor you will find rock, pop and new releases. Just put on the headphones and listen to the latest tunes! Furthermore there's a fine selection of videos and supply for your Play Station. Classical music, Jazz and Ethno are on the first floor. Taking the escalator downstairs to the cellar, you will end up in the next megastore, the bookshop Amadeus. Review © 2007, Wcities |
