Bastille Day Waiters' Race

Racing champagne to the Capitol
1201 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest
Washington DC 20004
+1 202 296 7200
A favorite event among Washingtonians, this celebration honors French independence with a unique street festival. Waiters and waitresses from area restaurants display their finesse and speed in a 12 block race along Pennsylvania Avenue, carrying trays of champagne. The race begins at noon at Les Halles Restaurant. Contestants make their way up the avenue to the U.S. Capitol and back. After the race the celebration continues into the night with live entertainment, concessions, and a generally high spirited atmosphere.
