This large society hosts weekly international dances (Greek, Israeli, Balkan), and monthly singing programs and workshops that celebrate folk culture. Its goal is to further the understanding and appreciation of folk music and folklore of the American people. The society presents more than 200 events, including concerts, each year; members receive discounted admission. The organization also puts on festivals showcasing the diversity of cultures represented in the membership. Its membership is comprised of people from all over metropolitan Washington.
