If the head chef for Spezie Ristorante, Enzo Livia, was competing in a recipe contest for "Most Significant Advancement in Italian Cuisine," Livia would have the judges so impressed that a new mark, the 10.5, would be produced to specifically judge his cuisine. This Italian restaurant isn't your average mamma and papà neighborhood joint, it's a sparkling model of how highly developed creativity in cooking can cause a sensory explosion for it's dinner guests. An excellent example of their dishes where sweet meets savory would be the Tortelli di Zucca e Amaretti al Burro, Salvia e Parmigiano; homemade ravioli stuffed with roasted pumpkin and amaretto cookies with a sage and parmesan sauce. This restaurant was reopened in Fall 2007, but be sure to look for old Spezie relics such as maps of ancient spice routes and pressed herbs on the walls. Review © 2009, Wcities |
