The chief aim of the Sugarloaf Craft Festival is to provide a marketplace, for artists and craftsmen, to sell their work directly to the public. Sugarloaf focuses on contemporary arts and crafts, but it exhibits fine folk art as well. A large number of artists from across the nation compete for available spaces as the exhibition is held in different cities during the year. You can enjoy a number of intricate craft demonstrations like pottery, furniture making, and buy artefacts for yourself and your home. This festival is not all about shopping; it's also an avenue to learn about the fantastic details and aesthetics that go into the work of these skilled craftsmen. You can also appreciate the nuances of gourmet cooking with a host of specialty foods available at the Festival of Foods (within the Sugarloaf Fest). Live performances by musicians like the pianist Mbandi complete the entire artistic experience.
