The cuisine at La Tomate draws from both regional and contemporary culinary influences, but the style of this small, bustling trattoria in Dupont Circle is reminiscent of those in modern European cities. A string of tables is set between a slate-and-glass bar and a glass wall that looks out onto Connecticut Avenue. An upstairs dining room offers a slightly quieter space. Tomatoes are naturally the centerpiece here. Pastas, well-arranged salads and fine spinach dishes are among the popular choices. A trout entree, smoked on the premises, is a house speciality.
