This tiny shop is bursting with a huge variety of sweets and chocolates. Evoking memories of childhood, all the old favourites are available, including flying saucers, sugar mice, toffee teacakes and cola bottles. The sweets are displayed in large jars and are sold in small paper bags. There are novelty chocolates from gift-wrapped chocolate bars to chocolate cars and pigs. There is a wonderful selection of individual handmade Belgian and Swiss chocolates, as well as a good range of Yorkshire preserves. Ice cream and cold drinks are on sale too. Pasty heaven |

Boasting 19 different varieties of Cornish pasty, with various fillings, from the traditional meat and potatoes stuff to the more exotic Beef and Guinness or Balti Chicken varieties, this shop is always popular with both locals and tourists alike. Of course, the non-pastiphiliac can always plump for a sandwich, a bap, or a toasted baguette but it would be a shame to miss out on the dessert pasties crammed with the gooey likes of strawberry, peach and custard and then you can wash it all down with a range of hot drinks. This wonderful shop is crammed full of everything you could possibly want when making a cake. It's the sort of shop where you may find something you have been looking for and have never quite found it. Cake decorations of every kind are on offer for almost every occasion. Here you'll find candles of every description, even ones masquerading as tiny champagne bottles. There are all sorts of baking equipment and a good range of cake tins, which are available to hire. They also have an interesting range of books to inspire you. You can order cakes for weddings, birthdays and special celebrations. York's traditional open-air market |

The open-air market has survived in York for centuries, although the move to its present location is quite recent. Now bordered by the Shambles, Parliament Street and Church Street, it is at the very heart of the city. Although the individual stalls do vary from day to day, you can be sure of colour, variety and a relaxed shopping experience. Butchers and Fishmongers have their spot by the Patrick Pool entrance. Whilst one stall sells specialty cheeses, another sells Italian bread and cakes, and along with fruit, vegetable and flower stalls, they all offer fresh produce and excellent value. Rolls of fabric, various clothing stalls and a hat seller can be found just off the Shambles. Bric-a-brac, second-hand books and handicrafts also have their place. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Oggy Oggy is a traditional retail bakery in York that sells freshly baked Cornish pasties. They have an extensive menu, which offers various types of pasties, soups, drinks and other baked goodies.
