Hard to find restaurant |
19 Grape Lane York YO1 7HU United Kingdom +44 1904 63 6366 |
This is a well-hidden restaurant, in fact it's not just hidden, it's bordering on invisible. Those new to the city may find the labyrinth of little streets around the Swinegate and Stonegate area a little bewildering, but persevere and you might just find this unimaginatively titled but picturesque little restaurant. This is a fine place for English cuisine and is perfectly suitable for parties. The menu is quite varied and offers something for most tastes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Sardinian delight |
10 Blossom Street York YO24 2AE United Kingdom +44 1904 62 2695 |
Delrio's is a wonderful Sardinian cellar restaurant in the centre of the city of York. This place is easy to miss as it has a rather inconspicuous exterior, so be careful not to walk right past. Once inside, there is a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. There is a large menu with a diverse range of meals on offer, with seafood being a particular speciality. As well as Sardinian food, there are lots of familiar dishes for those who don't feel up to experimenting. A lasagne is around GBP6 and pizzas cost just over GBP5. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Curry by the river |
12a King Street York YO1 1SP United Kingdom +44 1904 63 0420 |
This is a genuine Indian restaurant on the edge of the River Ouse and in the centre of York. It is in close proximity to many of the larger pubs and clubs, particularly The Gallery, which is just a short walk away, and this makes it a perfect way to begin, or round off, a night out. The interior is rather elegant and the atmosphere is friendly and very lively. The menu is pretty large and covers most of the popular Indian dishes. A Beef Rogan Josh is just under £6 and a Lamb Jalfrezi, they also specialize in Balti dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A cosy little restaurant |
13 Grape Lane York YO1 2HU United Kingdom +44 1904 64 1750 |
This is a small and intimate restaurant tucked away from the main streets, on the top floor of an old restored building, yet still within easy reach of most of the city's major historical attractions and entertainment outlets. This restaurant has a most impressive choice of seafood and the atmosphere is pleasant here, if a little on the formal side. The menu has a distinct international flavour to it and should please almost any tastes. The braised shank of lamb and the smoked Scottish salmon is delicious. A recent addition, located on the first floor, is the wine bar, which serves light meals up to 8p. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fun and lively, day or night |
21 Grape Lane York YO1 2HU United Kingdom +44 1904 61 0370 |
Sharing its name with the famous playwright and socialite, this modern restaurant, with a distinctly cosmopolitan atmosphere, is tucked away behind some of York's smaller streets; newcomers to the city may find it a little tricky to discover. Although a bit on the small side, its intimate surroundings help set the mood and there are enough tables to make sure that getting seated isn't too much of a problem. Wilde's has a varied menu, which covers all tastes, from Mexican to Italian to traditional English dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |
