During this festive seasonal event, the Ahwahnee takes on the grandeur of a 17th century banquet hall, and the food, song and performances match its decor. Actors in period dress will perform classic carols and Renaissance rituals. The dinner is a true Christmas feast with seven classic courses, which may include dishes like Parma Ham Torta with Fig and Melon Crisp, Black Pepper Bread Sticks, or Sweet Potato Puree garnished with Cranberry Oil.

This extremely popular event combines the beauty and grace of The Ahwahnee with superb culinary delights not usually on the menu. Each session features a different guest chef. The event starts with a reception where you can meet the chef. Then you are treated to a cooking demonstration and tour of the kitchen. The session will end with an exquisite Chef's Banquet consisting of a remarkable five-course meal complete with fine wines. This event is held each year on selected dates in January and February. This event fills fast and reservations are a must, tickets are about USD140. See website for yearly details.

This is a great way to experience the winter beauty of Yosemite and learn how to ski. The more than 300 miles of groomed trails, including more than 20 miles of track, makes Yosemite popular with cross-country skiers. This event consists of two, two-hour group cross-country ski lessons at Badger Pass Ski Area. The fee includes lessons and equipment rental. After your lessons, you can purchase lunch, a snack, wine, beer or soft drinks at the ski lodge. The park offers free bus service from the Ahwahnee, Curry Village or Yosemite Lodge to the Badger Pass Ski Area.

The forest has its own charm in every season and winter is no exception to this. This is the time when nature rests and the ruling color is white. This program gives visitors a chance to discover the forest in winter (Dec-Mar) with a number of walks and trails. It is strongly advised to wear sturdy boots and warm clothes and snow shoes are provided for $2.

Nordic Holiday Race

For more than 25 years, Yosemite National Park has hosted this citizen race. This two-day event is filled with fun. Participants compete in a 17-kilometer Cross-Country Ski race, a Telemark race and a 36-kilometer Free Style Cross-Country race. Both days will end with an awards ceremony in the Snowflake Room at Badger Pass. The fee to race is USD30 per person no matter if you race in one or all three events. There is no charge to watch the races. Refreshments are available for purchase in the Hut or Snowflake Room.

Strawberry Music Festival

Each year during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, folk music reigns at Camp Mather. From its location near the once beautiful Hetch Hetchy Valley, you will be able to camp and hike as well as listen to some of the world's best folk artists. Past performers have included The Waifs, Yonder Mountain String Band and HillBilly Idol. Ticket prices are from USD130-140 (adults) and include three or four-day camp sites, as well as admission. Tickets for children (5-12) are USD50 and include a variety of activities. Children under five are admitted free.

Twilight Strolls

This daily event is free, and is a great activity for the entire family. The strolls are taken at an easy pace and cover less than a mile. Each stroll is guided by local experts, and topics vary according to the interpreter's area of expertise. Topics usually highlight the natural history and culture of Yosemite National Park. The stroll begins at twilight at the Ahwahnee Hotel patio. It is best to check the schedule of activities in the lobby for daily topics and time changes. Tours take place in Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Over 23 years old, this wine fest offers connoisseurs the opportunity to savor over 32 different Californian wines. Each of the eight sessions is dedicated to four different wineries and ends with a five-course dinner in the Ahwahnee's gorgeous dining room. The festivities start in November and continue into December.
