Old Furniture and Prices |
Plaza del Pilar, 16 Zaragoza 50001 Spain +34 976 29 9704 |
This hotel dates back to 1954, and if its walls could speak, no doubt they would tell thousands of stories. It is centrally located, and acts as a point of reference for many travellers to the city. On entering the hotel you get the distinct feeling that time has stood still and that very few modern innovations have managed to creep in since it was built. For those who are looking to stay in the old part of the city and do not want to spend too much money, this is an ideal option. All areas of the city are within easy reach. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A very homely place |
Conde Aranda, 142 Zaragoza 50003 Spain |
This is practically a family home or apartment, located very near the Aljafería Palace, and within easy walking distance of the popular, lively neighbourhood of Delicias, an area which is also good for shopping. The old town is reasonably nearby too. This kind of boarding house is most suitable for those who simply want a place to sleep or relax. Do not expect great luxuries. Location and price are its main assets. Some of the rooms have a bathroom, some just a wash basin, and others share a common bathroom. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Central, simple & well connected |
Paseo Pamplona, 23 Zaragoza 50005 Spain +34 976 21 7608 |
For travellers arriving in Zaragoza by bus from Madrid or Barcelona, this one-star boarding house is the first to meet the eye. It is only a few steps away from the station, if you walk in the direction of Plaza Aragón. It is housed in a modest building which also contains private homes. Some of the rooms look out on the Paseo de Pamplona and from these the arch of Puerta del Carmen can be seen. It is very well located, near both the old town and the commercial centre of the city. Central and Quirky |
Plaza del Pilar, 14 entresuelo Zaragoza 50001 Spain +34 976 29 4830 |
Housed in one of Plaza del Pilar's main buildings, this hotel was renovated in 1997. The reception and hall are decorated with antique furniture and details which impart a very homely touch. The furniture dates back to 1900 and is painted black because of a legal decree of the time which imposed greater taxes on unpainted wooden furniture. Stepping into the hotel, it is hard to imagine the charmingly decorated rooms you are about to come across. If you're lucky enough to get a room with a view onto the plaza, Zaragoza's Ayuntamiento (city council) will be right opposite you. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Central and very cheap |
Santiago, 3 Zaragoza 50001 Spain +34 976 39 4550 |
This two star hostel opened in the mid-eighties. The hostel is housed in an old building in Zaragoza's old town. Actually, as is the case with many Spanish hostels, only one or two floors of the building have been converted into accommodation for visitors. Offering its customers the possibility of a central location for very little money, it is also near one of the city's main nightlife destinations. Rooms are simple, and not all have their own bathroom or air-conditioning. These, naturally enough, are the cheapest. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Much prized for quality |
Avenida Anselmo Clavé, 45 Zaragoza 50004 Spain +1 34 976 28 2727 |
This three-star hotel has been renovated and decorated in such good taste that it has been awarded prizes by renowned national guides. Some of these awards are part of the decoration at reception. The modern style and the good colour combination used in the decor make for a very pleasant atmosphere, discernible as soon as you walk through the door. It also has the advantage of being very near the train station. As for the old part of town and the commercial centre, they are a little further away, but can be reached on foot in about ten minutes. Guests have access to a medical service. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Conquering comfort |
Hernan Cortés, 21 Zaragoza 50005 Spain +34 976 21 4988 |
Built in 1985, this is a simple but comfortable three-star hotel, which chose to invest in features necessary for the well-being of its guests, rather than in luxury. Centrally located, it is very near the station for buses to Madrid and Barcelona and El Portillo train station. It is also within easy walking of the old part of town and the commercial centre. All the rooms are sound-proof, which makes being in such a busy area a positive advantage instead of a nuisance. The car park is in the same building as the hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This three-star hotel is just a few steps away from the Gran Vía. Its restrained architecture and use of exposed brickwork make it blend harmoniously with its surroundings; one of the better preserved parts of the old town. Surrounded by beautiful, classical buildings, its four storeys do not seem out of place. This is a very centrally located hotel, offering up-to-date conveniences and facilities, much sought after by tourists both for its location and for the fact that all the key places to visit are within easy reach. Central square |
Avenida Independencia y Calle Coso Zaragoza 50001 Spain |
Intersecting Calle Coso, Plaza España is the centre of the city, and the place where the numbering of streets begins. This is also the beginning of Paseo de la Independencia, the city's main street. In the middle of the square stands the Monument to the Martyrs (1904), by Agustin Querol, a memorial not only to the Christian martyrs of Roman Zaragoza but also the defenders of the city against the French invaders during the War of Independence (1808). The monument is in the shape of a tower and at its top, an angel holds an injured Aragonese peasant. On one side of the square stands the Provincial Government, a neo-classic building dating back to the forties. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Zaragoza Spain |
This area is traditionally the one of greatest interest for visitors. It includes the old town proper, with its natural extensions to the east, Barrio de la Magdalena to the west, and Predicadores (also known as San Pablo or barrio del Gancho), plus the area delineated by Avenida César Augusto and Paseo de María Agustín (where Misericordia bullring stands). The flea market is also nearby, as is the Pignatelli Building, an eighteenth-century hospital containing a church with gilt domes that now houses the Diputación General de Aragón (regional government).
